No, perhaps you\u2019re sick of having dirt from the day walked through your clean house. Why not build yourself a diy shoe rack?<\/p>\n<p>This is a painfully simple project. It will take half a day maximum, and yes \u2013 it does involve pallets! We love pallets here at ToolMates Hire, because they\u2019re so easy to work with.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1x Pallet<\/p>\n<p>Fixit blocks<\/p>\n<p>Screws<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tools<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Drill<\/p>\n<p>Hammer<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/toolmateshire.com.au\/offers\/map\/map:\/toolname:saw\/rent_start:\/rent_end:\">Saw<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1: Dismantle the pallet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first step will be to dismantle the pallet until you have multiple usable wooden planks. We suggest using a hammer and a saw, but a crowbar is useful too, provided you do not snap your pieces. Don\u2019t forget to also remove the nails from your pallets, using a hammer, or pliers if they are bent.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toolmateshire.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/FUPWAPCIQU0T00A.LARGE_-570x422-6303846.jpg\" alt=\"fupwapciqu0t00a-large_-570x422-6303846\" \><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2: Screwing the bottom and sides together<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be holding our\u00a0shoe rack together, we\u2019re\u00a0going to be using fixit blocks and screws. Of course, you can choose to use another method if you wish. As you can see in the picture below, we\u2019ve gone for a three-wide rack, but depending on how many pallets you\u2019re using, or how many planks you\u2019ve created, you can have it thicker. Just keep in mind you will also need some of those pallets for the shelves. For ours, 9\u00a0were required (6 for the sides and 3\u00a0for the bottom)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toolmateshire.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/FUWHCCKIQU0T0AQ.LARGE_-570x422-4398325.jpg\" alt=\"fuwhcckiqu0t0aq-large_-570x422-4398325\" \><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3: Making the shelves<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Obviously, some cutting will be required here, as your shelves\u00a0will not fit perfectly in between the sides. Measure halfway up the sides so that you come up with a nice even shoe rack. Go ahead and attach the shelf using your fixit blocks and screws.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toolmateshire.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/FON1HR9IQU0T0H6.LARGE_-570x422-4428003.jpg\" alt=\"fon1hr9iqu0t0h6-large_-570x422-4428003\" \><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4: Making the supports<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the supports, you will need two for each side and two for the top. Once you cut them to size, measure and mark out where the screws will go, and drill some pilot holes, then screw all the parts together.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toolmateshire.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/F3QEFZHIQU0T0J7.LARGE_-570x422-6553098.jpg\" alt=\"f3qefzhiqu0t0j7-large_-570x422-6553098\" \><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5: Finishing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Make sure you sand your shoe rack down to give it a smooth polish.
