Well, why not combine their two great loves to create the ultimate combination that will be the envy of all the trick or treating neighbourhood.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The great thing about this project is that although we created a \u2018Minecraft\u2019 Halloween box, depending on your children\u2019s passions, you can create just about anything!<\/p>\n<p>Not only that, but getting your little ones away from the Xbox or iPad and outside building, creating and using their hands in a \u2018real world\u2019 activity for the whole family to enjoy is creating memories that will last a lifetime \u2013 let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the tools and materials you\u2019ll need to create your very own crafty treat containers that will be the hit of your town this coming Halloween.<\/p>\n<p>Tools<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safety glasses<\/li>\n<li>Ear muffs<\/li>\n<li>Table saw<\/li>\n<li>Hammer<\/li>\n<li>Scissors<\/li>\n<li>Colour photo printer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Materials<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00bc \u201c plywood<\/li>\n<li>Wood glue \u2013 liquid nails ideally<\/li>\n<li>1\u201d x 2\u201d board<\/li>\n<li>Orange paint<\/li>\n<li>Black paint<\/li>\n<li>Finishing nails<\/li>\n<li>Photo paper<\/li>\n<li>Craft glue<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 1<br \>\nnGetting prepared<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toolmateshire.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/tm-minecraft-halloween-2-570x422-2249438.jpg\" alt=\"tm-minecraft-halloween-2-570x422-2249438\" \> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toolmateshire.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/tm-minecraft-halloween-3-570x422-6464961.jpg\" alt=\"tm-minecraft-halloween-3-570x422-6464961\" \><\/p>\n<p>Like all good projects, it is important to prepare. Firstly make a list of the cuts required, as you can make the boxes essentially any size you like depending of course on the size of your children \u2013 or big kids \u2013 that are going the be running around collecting the treats.<\/p>\n<p>Map out your sides (4) and base, mark up your plywood and cut using your table sure \u2013 ensuring all little hands are well out of the way.<\/p>\n<p>Take the time to make sure all of your measurements are spot on so you get the right size box otherwise your treat container could wind up a little worse for wear.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 2<br \>\nnCreate the boxes<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toolmateshire.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/tm-minecraft-halloween-4-570x422-6661736.jpg\" alt=\"tm-minecraft-halloween-4-570x422-6661736\" \><\/p>\n<p>With the cuts carefully done, create the box attaching the sides to the base using wood glue.<\/p>\n<p>As the plywood is very light, you don\u2019t need a vice to hold things in place, but painters tape, duct tape or similar should do the trick while you wait for the glue to dry. Anyone who has used liquid nails knows\u2026.it won\u2019t take long and this box is never coming apart and can be used for Halloweens for the next decade!<\/p>\n<h2>Step 3<br \>\nnGet the kids painting<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toolmateshire.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/tm-minecraft-halloween-5-465x422-9948285.jpg\" alt=\"tm-minecraft-halloween-5-465x422-9948285\" \><\/p>\n<p>Now comes the time to get the kids involved.<\/p>\n<p>With only the insides requiring painting \u2013 as printing will be done on the outside. That being said, if your children want to create their own \u2018scary monster\u2019 box, then this will do!<\/p>\n<p>However, to create a \u2018pumpkin-like\u2019 box, orange is always a great start for Halloween nights!<\/p>\n<h2>Step 4<br \>\nnAttach the handles for carrying all the loot<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toolmateshire.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/tm-minecraft-halloween-6-570x422-2932860.jpg\" alt=\"tm-minecraft-halloween-6-570x422-2932860\" \><\/p>\n<p>After painting the inside of your box, you can get your handle cut to size &amp; attached to the inside of the box.<\/p>\n<p>Use some of the wood glue &amp; small nails to secure the handle in place.<\/p>\n<p>Remember to sand &amp; paint well, even consider sealing to ensure there are no splinters into little hands along the hunt for treats.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 5<br \>\nnSkin your box and make it look cool<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toolmateshire.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/tm-minecraft-halloween-7-570x349-3504895.jpg\" alt=\"tm-minecraft-halloween-7-570x349-3504895\" \><\/p>\n<p>Looking at websites such as minecraftpapercraft.com you will be able to find a range of skins for your boxes. You can look for just about anything to decorate the outside of your box.<\/p>\n<p>You will be able to adjust the size and clarity of your photo if it is blurry and\/or pixelated using programs like Adobe Photoshop \u2013 which you can download online \u2013 importing the file &amp; resampling using \u201cnearest neighbour\u201d functionality \u2013 such as that in the photo provided.<\/p>\n<p>With the photo and size looking good \u2013 remembering to re-measure the outside diameter of your box to ensure you are spot on with your sizing \u2013 do a test run through your printer before using the photo quality paper \u2013 as this stuff can be expensive.<\/p>\n<p>Using craft glue, attach the images to the box; ensuring there are not too many bubbles and the glue doesn\u2019t get on the photo.<\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019ve followed all these steps, you will be left with the ultimate Halloween candy container for your kids to use as they scope out your neighbour tricking and treating the sweets out of your neighbours.<\/p>\n<p>Toolmates offers a wide range of options for hiring and sharing your tools in your local neighbourhood.
