If it’s been a long time and you want to be sure your pipes are working correctly, it could be worth pouring a drain cleaner down to eliminate any dirt or build-up.
Clear out your gutters
A problem that a lot of people experience is a build-up of moss and dirt in their gutters. The longer this is left untreated, the greater the risk of leaks cropping up – especially on the exterior of your home. We would recommend you regularly check your gutters and remove any dirt to reduce the risk of repairs or replacements. Over the winter months, this can happen a lot more due to the wind and rain blowing it directly into your guttering.
Inspect pipes for corrosion
Do you spend any time checking your pipers for corrosion? If not, you should be doing this regularly. A lot of the time, small leaks go unnoticed until they build up and become big leaks. If stopped when they are small, this is a lot easier and cheaper than when they grow. Take a moment to look over the exterior of your pipes, keeping an eye out for any small holes. A sign that there has been a leak is if it’s wet at all, any musty unpleasant smells or there are strange noises coming from it.
